Human Avatars

Make a game-ready human avatar from scratch: concept, 3D model, auto-rig, export.

The pipeline

Use images to create the model, then add a humanoid rig if you need animation or a VRChat avatar. Static objects skip rigging.

  1. Concept image, optional: upload your art, including an image created in ChatGPT.
  2. Reference views, optional: generate consistent angles. Your Gemini API key uses 0 app tokens; Google bills provider usage.
  3. 3D model: image-to-3D compute uses the displayed app token cost.
  4. Auto-rig, free: make it poseable with a humanoid skeleton.
  5. Export: FBX for Unity, GLB for glTF-compatible tools, or a VRChat .unitypackage.

1. Concept image (optional)

Create an asset in Asset Studio. Choose Generate from text or Upload reference. Keep the character fully in frame, in a neutral T-pose or A-pose, with separated limbs and a simple background. Review the selected payment source and cost before generating.

2. Preview images

Select the reference in your project asset and choose Generate reference views if you need more consistent input angles. Inspect front and back views before generating the model. A single clean image can also go straight to Create 3D model; extra views are not mandatory.

3. Generate the 3D model

Select your image and choose Create 3D model in Asset Studio. The generation dialog shows the current app token cost, including any active Momentum Mode discount. Rotate and inspect the result before moving on; AI models may need cleanup.

Check your task page for model stats, and open the model in the Mesh Editor to clean it up before rigging.

4. Auto-rig

Open the Auto Rigger, upload your humanoid model, place the bone markers on the head, hands, and feet, and hit rig. You get a poseable GLB with a humanoid skeleton, ready for animation. It is free and does not cost tokens.

Rigging works best on models in a neutral T-pose or A-pose. Models with clothing or hair baked in can still rig, but large accessories may need the mesh editor first.

5. Export

Use the Mesh Editor's export menu for FBX for Unity or VRChat PC/Quest .unitypackage. Stock Unity needs a glTF importer for GLB. VRChat export requires a humanoid rig; import the package into a Creator Companion Avatars project and validate it with the SDK before upload. Follow the VRChat avatar guide.

Tokens

New accounts get 10 tokens with a free trial. Running low? Top up pay-as-you-go tokens for $0.10 each (min $2), or pick a plan for monthly tokens.
